Crime Prevention conference for elder peer helpers

The Crime Prevention Department of Veszprém County Police Headquarter’s has organized a conference about preventing victimization of elderly people for elderly peer support. The purpose of the conference – held on 19th of October 2016 – for the cooperating NGOs was to review the previous crime prevention measures, discuss the tasks of the near future, and exchange experience and best practices between the elderly peer helpers, who attended the conference.

The conference held at the main theatre hall of the Veszprém County Police HQ, where Mr. Imre Polgárdy the president of the Crime Prevention and Public Safety DepartmentVeszprém County Regional Government welcomed all the guests. He noticed that back in 2011 the elderly crime prevention elderly peer program was created with the main aim of reducing number of the elderly victims of crime.


Mr. Peter Halász, Financial Director of the Veszprém County Police HQ stated, that everyone can do a lot to protect their own belongings and safety. Following the welcome speeches, peer helpers, and support services were awarded for their efforts recently showed.

Mr. Csaba Gaál police major, main rapporteur of the Crime Prevention Department at the Veszprém County Police HQ shared an instructive story of a peer helper, followed by advice on preventing crime regarding property sale.
